White Coat Ceremony for the College of Pharmacy

NEOMED will formally welcome first-year pharmacy students on Friday, Aug. 19, by providing each with a white coat. The ceremony is a major milestone for students as they transition into their new journey of lifelong learning and community service.

The time of the ceremony will be announced at a later date.

Dr. Hans G. Folkesson Memorial Seminar Series: Julian Stelzer Ph.D.

Julian Stelzer, Ph.D., professor of physiology & biophysics and a Mount Sinai Scholar at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, will present “MyBPC Based Therapies for Heart Failure” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3 in Room RGE-123 on the NEOMED campus.

The talk is part of the Dr. Hans G. Folkesson Memorial Seminar Series, presented by Integrative Medical Sciences.

Dr. Hans G. Folkesson Memorial Seminar Series

Edward B. Thorp, Ph.D., associate professor of pathology & pediatrics at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University will present “Mechanisms of Macrophage Tissue Repair (In Heart).”

Dr. Thorp is also co-director of the NIAID T32 IMP Training Program and director, Basic & Molecular Science at The Heart Center, Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute at Northwestern University.

Andreas Stahl Ph.D., professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences & Toxicology at UC Berkeley-UCSF Graduate Program in Bioengineering, University of California, Berkeley, will present “Organ-on-a-Chip Solutions for Diabetes Research.”

VITALS Speaker: Scott Knoer, Chief Executive of the American Pharmacists Association

Scott Knoer, Pharm.D., M.S., FASHP, executive vice president and chief executive officer of the American Pharmacists Association, will be the speaker on NEOMED’s VITALS series at noon, Thursday, Jan. 13.

The monthly VITALS series features a diverse group of innovative leaders in the medical sector. Each speaker has 17 minutes – the same length of time duration of the average physician-patient visit – to offer disruptive solutions to health care’s biggest problems. Approaches may cover any of the six components of VITALS:

  • Value-based,
  • Innovation,
  • Technology,
  • Advocacy,
  • Leadership and
  • Service.

The speaker then engages in discourse with attendees for the remainder of the hour, responding to their questions. Speakers range from regional university partners at public, private and health care systems to national peers, alumni and thought leaders.

Continuing education credits will be made available through Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), through the sponsorship of Northeast Ohio Medical University. Learn more.
