Laura Nagy, Ph.D. — professor of molecular medicine, director of the Liver Disease Research Center, and Director of the Northern Ohio Alcohol Center at the Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic – will present “Inflammation and Cell Death in Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease (ALD): Can a Carbohydrate be an Effective Therapeutic?” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 in RGE-123.
The talk is free and open to the public. It is part of the Dr. Hans G. Folkesson Memorial Seminar Series presented by Integrative Medical Sciences.

Bernhard Fassl, M.D., director of the Center for Global Health Innovation at NEOMED, will speak at VITALS at noon, Thursday, Dec. 1 via Zoom. The talk is free and open to the public.
Dr. Fassl has led several maternal-child health projects in India, Nepal, Tibet and other sites around the globe. His research is focused on reducing inequities in health care access and quality on a global scale through frugal innovation and quality improvement strategies.
Since joining NEOMED in January 2022, Dr. Fassl has led NEOMED’s collaboration with health innovators in Nepal, India and Kenya who have taken on the challenge of finding cost-effective solutions for their health systems through innovation and social entrepreneurship. The public-private-academic collaborative connects health care needs at the grassroots level with social, medical, engineering and other entrepreneurs who explore new approaches.
